Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has said that Serbia is one of the two or three countries with the highest rate of economic growth in Europe, adding that today, Serbia accounts for 50 percent of the total GDP in the Western Balkans.

"Serbia accounts for 55 percent of the total export in the Western Balkans. Serbia accounts for 64 percent of the total FDI attraction in the Western Balkans. EXPO 2027 is what I'm focused on now," Vucic told the BBC.

The president added that he is satisfied with the economic development and that he is focused on future economic reforms, which is why he wants to have normal relations "with everyone in the region."

He denied the journalist's allegation that Serbia relies exclusively on Russia in the field of energy, saying that Serbia is trying to diversify as much as possible.

"That is why we built the interconnector between Serbia and Bulgaria. That's why we started not only to negotiate, but also to buy gas from Azerbaijan. I recently discussed this with (President of Azerbaijan) Ilham Aliyev, but we still receive large quantities of gas from Russia," said Vucic.
