Serbian President Vucic announces trip to Moscow: "It will be an honor for me to attend Victory Day"
President Aleksandar Vucic said last night that he will attend the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the victory in World War II on May 9 in Moscow, where he will travel at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, and that it will be a great honor for him.
"If the world doesn't end, I'm not sure anymore, but I hope it won't, it would be a great honor for me to be in Red Square 80 years after the liberation from fascism, as I was there on the 75th anniversary. Netanyahu and I were the only guests (from abroad) then, so I'm proud of the fight against fascism in which the Serbian people participated," said Vucic, when a journalist asked if he will travel to Russia at Putin's invitation.
Vucic stressed that the Serbians are the only people in this region who, along with the Greeks, stood up against Nazism from the very beginning.
"And that's why the Serbian people have an additional obligation to preserve the truth about the fight against fascism. But May 9 is far away. But I thank President Putin for the invitation and I told him, unless something happens, I would be happy to attend that event. And I talked about that with the prime minister of Slovakia, Fico, who will be my guest in 24 hours, so he will also go," said Vucic.
