International operation Mosaic 2024 identifies 63 persons suspected of online child sexual abuse

Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said today that members of the Service for Combating High-Tech Crime from the Directorate for Technology, as part of the European Multidisciplinary Platform Against Criminal Threats (EMPACT), participated in a large-scale international operation Mosaic 2024, carried out against sexual abuse of children on the internet in the Western Balkans.

This resulted in identifying a total of 63 suspects and 8 victims, and conducting 59 searches.

During the searches, as part of this international operation carried out in Serbia, Croatia, the Serb Republic, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Slovenia, Montenegro, and North Macedonia, 327 electronic devices were seized which contained content created by the sexual exploitation of children on the internet, shared through various application and the peer2peer networks, which will be used as evidence in the criminal proceedings against suspects, Dacic said.

"Operation Mosaic 2024 is a continuation of extremely successful regional and international police cooperation in the fight against child abuse on the internet, during which the activities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs carried out in the past few days in several cities in Serbia resulted in criminal charges filed against six people suspected of committing the criminal offense of displaying, obtaining and possessing pornographic material and exploiting a minor for pornography," the minister said, adding that the Ministry of Internal Affairs continues its and proactive actions in order to protect children and the most sensitive categories of the population.
