Serbian President Vucic to host President Tokayev of Kazakhstan today and on Tuesday

President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic will today and on Tuesday host President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who will be on an official visit to Serbia.

Tokayev will arrive at Belgrade's Nikola Tesla airport today at 3:30 pm, with his plane escorted by a Serbian Air Force aircraft.

A formal welcoming ceremony with military honors will be held on Tuesday morning, followed by a meeting with Vucic, the Serbian president's press office has announced.

A plenary meeting between the delegations of Serbia and Kazakhstan will then be held, headed by Vucic and Tokayev, followed by a ceremonial exchange of signed bilateral documents, in the presence of the two presidents.

Vucic and Tokayev are planned to then address the media.

After the official part of the visit, the two presidents will attend a display of military equipment and weapons at the military airport in Batajnica, near Belgrade.

The Serbia-Kazakhstan business forum was organized at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce last Tuesday with the aim of further strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries, especially in the sectors of ICT, agriculture, construction and transport.

A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia and the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan, and B2B meetings were also held.

Trade between Serbia and Kazakhstan increased by 23 percent in the past year, reaching 91 million dollars.

36 Serbian companies are currently operating in Kazakhstan, as an important domestic partner on the China-Europe logistics corridor.

According to data from the Business Registers Agency, 35 active economic entities whose majority owners are citizens of Kazakhstan are registered in the territory of Serbia, and which operate in the fields of trade, motor vehicle repair, electricity supply, transport, construction, scientific, innovative and financial services.

Kazakhstan's economy grew by 5.1 percent in 2023, due to increased oil production and fiscal incentives.

Unemployment decreased to 4.7 percent, and inflation dropped from 21.3 to 9.3 percent in February of this year.

Kazakhstan has an export-oriented economy, highly dependent on deliveries of oil and related products (73 percent of total exports). Other exports include ferrous metals, copper, aluminum, zinc and uranium.

Kazakhstan's main export partners are Italy, China, the Netherlands, Russia and France.

Among the main import partners of this country are Russia, China, Germany, the US and Italy.
