Between November 4 and 13, members of the Criminal Police Directorate (UKP) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia (MUP) seized almost 62 kilograms of different types of narcotics, 15 pistols, two rifles, 1,657 pieces of ammunition, while light has also been shed on other crime cases, resulting in the arrest of 38 people.

The police acted on the orders issued by the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office (VTJ) in Belgrade.

44.7 kilograms of cannabis, more than 16 kilograms of cocaine, about 2.2 kilograms of heroin and about 720 grams of amphetamines were seized during this period.

At the same time, more than 490,000 tablets and 73,650 ampoules of doping agents have been confiscated - substances banned by the Law on Prevention of Doping in Sports.

A large amount of cash of various denominations and currencies, a large number of mobile phones, as well as items linked to the sale of narcotics - precise digital scales, PVC packaging, etc., have also been seiezed.

Among the arrested persons are five suspected of preparing to commit aggravated murder, as well as a suspect who tried to commit serious theft in the home of a Serbian police general, and who fired from a pistol during the incident.

The chief prosecutor of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, Nenad Stefanovic, says that the results achieved in suppressing drug trafficking and finding illegal firearms show exceptional commitment to their work, both by members of the UKP, and of the VJT Belgrade.

"This is only a part of the criminal offenses that the VJT Belgrade deals with on a daily basis, but the said results can be achieved when everyone is seriously dedicated to their work and determined to fight crime. I expect that we will all continue our successful cooperation and contribute to cleaning up the drugs market as much as possible in Belgrade, as well as illegal possession and carrying of firearms", said Stefanovic.
