Former President of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SRJ) and former Prime Minister of Serbia Vojislav Koštnica is writing a book about the police Operation Sabre (Serbian: Sablja), Telegraf has learned exclusively.

Kostunica, who was the main actor of the post-October 5 (2000) events, as a witness of historical events, will present his memories regarding the assassination of Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic (in 2003), and will describe what happened during a large-scale police operation that followed, during which more than 10,000 people were brought in for quesitoning.

Operation Saber dealt a deadly blow to the criminal gang known as the Zemun Clan, but one of the controversies tied to it is that it allegedly served for a showdown with political opponents.

Precisely because of this, the book will be one of the key historical documents, from the pen of a key witness, which will bring to light never before published details and facts regarding the police operation.

Vojislav Kostunica was allied with Zoran Djindjic in the opposition DOS coalition that removed Slobodan Milosevic from power. Elections were held on September 24, 2000, leading to protests that culminated on October 5.

Two years later, Kostunica and Djindjic parted ways politically.
