President Vucic: Everyone in Serbia hoped for Trump's victory, here's what we expect will happen

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said today after Donald Trump triumphed in the US presidential election that many people in the world will now race to ingratiate themselves with Trump, even though they were against him up until today.

Vucic mentioned that everyone in Serbia hoped for Trump's victory, because of the events of 1999 (Trump opposed NATO bombing Serbia that year).

"Many people in the world will race to ingratiate themselves with Trump after his victory, even though they did not support him until that point. I am interested in what directly relates to Serbia and how it will affect global and regional circumstances, and therefore indirectly Serbia. We have good relations with Trump," said Vucic.

He stressed that this is a somewhat more favorable situation for us, that our voice will be heard better, but that there will be no 'tectonic changes' in the policy towards Serbia.

"What is important to me that he is a businessman, and I believe that our relations will get be even better. In terms of global influence, I expect Trump to try to broker peace in Ukraine. I believe that the word 'peace' will no longer be so hated in the world.

Until yesterday, you could hear that this or that one would win. I am convinced that the US president, and I know this firsthand, will offer and seek solutions. At this moment, the Russian army is on a big offensive. The question is whether anyone in Russia wants to stop it. I think that it is in the interest of all sides, not only Ukraine," stressed President Vucic.
