Cameras have recorded the moment when the eaves structure collapsed at the Novi Sad railway station this morning.

The collapse of the eaves on the old part of the railway station in Novi Sad has killed eight people.

Interior Minister Ivica Dacic announced the news this afternoon, adding that two more are hospitalized, one in serious condition, having had their legs amputated.

As of Friday afternoon, rescurers were still trying to reach two people trapped under the rubble in a bid to pull them out alive.

Earlier reports said that seven ambulances were seen at the location, as firefighters were trying to reach people trapped under the rubble.

The eaves structure, which was built in 1964, collapsed a little before noon. The sound that this produced reached and upset residents in most parts of the city.
