As the winter traffic season is officially starting on Saturday, November 1, the use of winter tires becomes mandatory in Serbia, the Interior Ministry, MUP, has announced.

"Starting November 1, winter tires are mandatory, but their role is far greater than the legal obligation. When temperatures drop and the road becomes slippery, winter tires can be the key to safer driving," a post on MUP's Instagram account said, detailing some of the benefits:

Better grip and control: Winter tires' special pattern and softer materials allow for better grip on snow and ice, giving you control and stability when conditions are difficult.

Faster braking: Tests have shown that winter tires can shorten braking distances, reducing the risk of accidents. Every second and every meter is important.

Cold resistance: Winter tires remain flexible even in low temperatures, while summer tires can become stiff and lose traction. Your vehicle will react better in all winter conditions.

"Winter tires aren't just an obligation – they're your best ally in the cold months. Make driving safer for you, your passengers and everyone on the road. Don't wait - change your tires on time and be ready for winter," said the post.
