Fugitive Belijagic seen at noon? Helicopters will now fly over this village along Montenegro-Serbia border

Alija Belijagic, suspected of committing double murder in Montenegro, was allegedly seen around noon in a village near the border with Serbia.

The police have now blocked all approaches to the Bijelo Polje village of Kukulje, where Belijagic was spotted around noon, according to RTCG.

Military and police forces surrounded the village of Orahovica in Bijelo Polje, Montenegro this morning, checking the possibility that Belijagic might be hiding there. The search was extended to Kukulje and Sutivan, and members of the Montenegrin army and police have also received help from the air.

Belijagic has been searched for since October 25, when, it is suspected, he murdered siblings Jovan and Milenka Madzgalj in their home in the village of Sokolac. An international arrest warrant was issued for him yesterday.

It is suspected that Belijagic fired shots at Jovan and Milenka from a hunting rifle.

According to the victim's family, Belijagic was in Madzgalj's house only a few hours before the murders, where he was offered a meal and treated to brandy.

It is suspected that he committed the murders shortly after the police, looking for him, came to the village of Sokolac and the hamlet of Zaboj, where the house of the victims is located.

Allegedly, before their murders, the police were at the door of Jovana and Milenka and showed them a photo of Belijagic.

Belijagic is well known to the police, having spent more than 30 years in prison for numerous crimes. 20 years ago the police also had to launch an extensive search for him. At the time, as now, helicopters were used.

"There was a chase after him, he was armed and had a lot of ammunition. After he was surrounded on the ground, and while the special forces from the helicopter held him at gunpoint, he fled under an underpass, among the citizens, threw away his rifle, raised his hands and shouted that he was surrendering.

At the police station, he said that not long before that he could have killed three officers who were looking for him in a village, since he claimed that he had them in his cross-hairs while hiding in a stack of hay. He said at the time that he would never again surrender 'without a bullet'," a source from the police has told Vijesti.
