Serbia elected to WHO Executive Board! Loncar: Great success for our healthcare, our citizens and our country

At the session of the 74th Regional Committee of the World Health Organization (WHO), being held from October 29 to 31 in Copenhagen, Serbia was elected to the UN agency's Executive Board by a majority vote of 53 European WHO member-countries.

Health Minister Zlatibor Loncar stressed that this is a success of all citizens of Serbia, and another confirmation that the progress of our healthcare system is internationally recognizable and recognized.

"A great success for our healthcare, our citizens and our country. Health knows no borders, and together we must make a full contribution to the benefit and health of citizens," said Loncar.

The WHO Executive Board for Europe has 8 members who are elected for a period of three years. The main function of the Executive Board is to implement the decisions and policies of the World Health Assembly and advise and facilitate its work. In addition to Serbia, the other candidates were Kazakhstan and Armenia.

The importance of participation of the delegation of Serbia is also reflected in the fact that top represetatives from health systems of the countries of the European region and other international organizations are taking part in this meeting, which is a unique opportunity to have many bilateral conversations at the highest level.
