Vucic and Sulyok discuss projects: 2 hours and 40 minutes to reach central Budapest from central Belgrade
Hungarian President Tamas Sulyok is visiting Serbia. He arrived in Belgrade this morning, where he was met by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
A ceremonial welcome was held in front of the Palace of Serbia, followed by a meeting between the two presidents and another between members of the Serbian and Hungarian delegations.
"Thank you for advocating for good and friendly relations with Serbia, we see Hungary as a country and the Hungarians as a people as our sincere friend," said Vucic after the meeting, and added that relations between the two countries are at the highest level.
He also pointed out the comprehensive connections with Hungary in all fields - transport, energy, railways.
"From the center of Belgrade to the center of Budapest, it will take exactly 2 hours and 40 minutes," said Vucic, talking about the high-speed railway and listing all the benefits of the agreements with Hungary, one of which will be crossing the border in high-speed trains without stopping.
Vucic added that Hungary will employ 200 new customs officers in order to make sure everything moves faster.
When it comes to green corridors, thanks to which freight traffic will not be delayed for hours at the border, Vucic said that there are big plans for the Horgos-Roszke border crossing.
He also touched on a joint oil pipeline construction project, without going into any details at this time.
The two presidents will visit Curug around 3 pm, where they will lay wreaths at the Reconciliation Monument, which was erected in memory of the innocent Hungarian victims who died in 1945.
This monument was unveiled on June 26, 2013 and contains three bronze figures united by a stone wall in the background.
Vucic and his Hungarian collague will then lay wreaths in the Museum of Raid Victims Topalov Magacin in Curug.
It has the status of a historical monument, and was also opened on June 26, 2013.
A blessing of a restored Catholic Church and an address by Vucic and Sulyok will be organized in Zabalj.
During his visit to Serbia, Sulyok will meet with Prime Minister Milos Vucevic, and he will also talk with President of the Serbian National Assembly Ana Brnabic.
The Hungarian president arrived in Serbia last night, and after a meeting with the president of the Association of Vojvodina Hungarians Balint Pastor in Palic, northern Serbia, where they discussed issues regardign national politics, Serbian-Hungarian relations, and further work and goals of this party representing ethnic Hungarians in Serbia.
