President of Hungary Tamas Sulyok was welcomed today with the highest state honors by President Aleksandar Vucic in front of the Palace of Serbia in New Belgrade.

The ceremonial welcome was arranged with the sounding of the national anthems of Hungary and Serbia, and with participation of the honor guard of the Serbian Army.

Serbian Government Ministers Goran Vesic and Tomislav Momirovic also attended.

This was followed by a meeting between the two presidents, and then between the delegations of Serbia and Hungary, as the Presidency announced earlier.

Vucic and Sulyok then gave statements to the media.

The two presidents will visit Curug around 3 pm, where they will lay wreaths at the Reconciliation Monument, which was erected in memory of the innocent Hungarian victims who died in 1945.

This monument was unveiled on June 26, 2013 and contains three bronze figures united by a stone wall in the background.

Vucic and his Hungarian collague will then lay wreaths in the Museum of Raid Victims Topalov Magacin in Curug.

It has the status of a historical monument, and was also opened on June 26, 2013.

A blessing of a restored Catholic Church and an address by Vucic and Sulyok will be organized in Zabalj.

During his visit to Serbia, Sulyok will meet with Prime Minister Milos Vucevic, and he will also talk with President of the Serbian National Assembly Ana Brnabic.

The Hungarian president arrived in Serbia last night, and after a meeting with the president of the Association of Vojvodina Hungarians Balint Pastor in Palic, he said that Hungary sees Serbia as a strategic partner.

Sulyok was elected president of Hungary in February of this year.
