PM Vucevic: Economic growth to reach 3.8 percent by the end of the year

Prime Minister Milos Vucevic has presided over the session of the Council for Coordination of Activities and Gross Domestic Product Growth, where it was stated that Serbia should reach the economic growth target of 3.8 percent by the end of the year.

It was pointed out during the session of the GDP Council - where the results in all areas important for the stability of the domestic economy and sustainable economic growth were analyzed - that construction, mining, industry and the ICT sector are key areas for achieving economic growth, the Serbian government has announced.

In order to achieve greater economic growth, it is also important that each project and all ministries, local self-governments and public enterprises accelerate activities in order to meet the deadlines.

One of the topics was the Green Agenda, that is, the creation of conditions for the timely preparation of the economy for introduction of the carbon dioxide tax in the EU market, which will start to be fully implemented in early 2026.

It was concluded that it is necessary to continuously monitor and report on the state of investment projects and speed up their implementation, given that the fourth quarter of 2024 has started.

"Members of the Council informed me about the implementation of key investment projects affecting the GDP. One of the topics was the Green Agenda, i.e. the creation of conditions for the timely preparation of the economy for the introduction of the carbon dioxide tax in the EU market," Vucevic wrote on his Instagram account.

The previous session of the Council was held on September 16.
