Serbian Deputy PM and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic today had a trilateral meeting with interior ministers of Hungary Sandor Pinter and Slovakia Matus Estok.

The meeting was held in Komarno, Slovakia, where Dacic is visiting as part of a Serbian delegation led by President Aleksandar Vucic.

Ministers Dacic, Pinter and Estok discussed the current situation on the Western Balkan migratory route and agreed to continue taking all the measures and actions in the fight against irregular migration.

Dacic stressed that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia works daily to suppress irregular migration and smuggling of migrants through Serbian territory, as well as that it undertakes all the necessary additional measures to deploy more effective surveillance at all border crossings.

On this occasion, the ministers also recalled the positive assessment made by EU officials regarding the results achieved by Serbia and Hungary in stopping a large migratory wave and significantly reducing the number of irregular migrants.

The ministers at the same time stressed that they will, going forward, continue with all the activities to make the work of our countries' police forces even more effective in the fight against irregular migration.
