Largest marijuana growing laboratory discovered in Krusevac: 3 arrested, organizer on the run
Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said today that a laboratory for growing marijuana in artificial conditions, which was found yesterday in Krusevac with around 1,000 cannabis plants, is the largest of its kind ever uncovered in this town.
"One of the priorities of the Ministry of the Interior is the fight against drug trafficking, and this is yet more proof of how dedicated the police work is to prevent drugs from reaching the streets at all. Yesterday, the Krusevac police, in cooperation with the Criminal Police Directorate, searched a basement used by M.P. (34) and I.S. (40) from Krusevac and found close to 1,000 plants 70 centimeteres to a meter tall," Dacic said.
He added that the police discovered "a complete set of equipment for growing marijuana in artificial conditions. In addition to the two suspects, D.P. (58) from Krusevac was also arrested, who had more than 1.7 kilograms of dried marijuana ready for sale in his apartment, as well as a gun that he had no permit for, which have all been seized."
"The three arrested are suspected of being directly involved in the cultivation and preparation of the narcotics for sale, and the police are intensively working to identify and find all other persons, with a special emphasis on the organizers of the production and trade of this narcotic drug. On suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of unauthorized production and distribution of narcotic drugs, M.P., I.S. and D.P. have been brought before the higher public prosecutor in Krusevac, while D.P. is also charged with the criminal act of illegal production, possession, carrying and trafficking of weapons and explosive materials," said Minister Dacic.
