All signs, information and notices at the Main Bus Station in Block 42 in New Belgrade will be written in Cyrillic, (for Serbian) and in English, said the mayor of Belgrade, Aleksandar Sapic.

He recalled that the official script in Serbia is Cyrillic (rather than Latin) and explained that all the inscriptions that can currently be seen at the station are the result of the station (BAS) administration's decisions, made without consultation with the City of Belgrade.

"I believe that there should not be Cyrillic and Latin (Serbian) and English, but only Cyrillic and English. Those who do not understand Cyrillic understand English, and vice versa. I asked the BAS management to replace all those inscriptions and to have them written in Cyrillic and in English, and they promised to do that as soon as possible. Soon we will start to change all signs and street name plates, which will also be (only) in Cyrillic, and in English," said the mayor of Belgrade.
