Belgrade's man bus station in Block 42 (New Belgrade) is getting officially opened today, and Mayor of Belgrade Aleksandar Sapic is also present at this event.

The mayor said that it is a true traffic gate of Serbia.

"It is necessary to build a station building not only for the bus station, but also for the railway station, which will be connected into one whole in 2027. Passengers will not want for anything in the temporary station building, either," Sapic said, but the new one will be significantly larger and will have a square.

The new station spreads on a total of 31,000 square meters and has 65 platforms.

A park and a garage will be built on the site of the old station across the Sava River, as part of Belgrade Waterfront.

"The conditions have only now been created for us to be able to close the Old Sava Bridge," said Sapic, pointing out that the bridge served as an important access point to the old bus station.

In the place of the Old Sava Bridge, a new one, called the New Serbian Bridge, will be constructed.

Meanwhile the new main bus station will service the first buses and passengers on Sunday.

The last departure from the old station will be for Ljubljana at 00.50, and the first departure from the new station will be for Novi Sad at 03.50.

The station's 65 platforms are divided into arrivals, suburban, intercity, and tourist.

A total of 41 suburban transport lines used the previous Belgrade bus station. That system has now been reorganized.

Buses coming from Grocka, Mladenovac and Sopot along the Avala Road will now run to Trosarina. Those who used the highway will be arriving at the new station via the Gazela Bridge.

The much-used Line 860 is diverted to Belgrade Waterfront, while other Obrenovac lines are diverted to the new station via the Ada Bridge.

Lines from Lazarevac along the Ibar highway will be reaching the new bus station via Gazela.
