The Municipal Misdemeanor Court in Split, Croatia has confiscated actor Sergej Trifunovic's passport as a precautionary measure.

The trial continues tomorrow at 12:30, reports Slobodna Dalmacija.

Sergej told the court today that he is not guilty, while indictment proposal filed by the police charges him with violating Article 5 and Article 17 of a law regulating offenses against public order and peace.

Article 17 states that, "Whoever disparages or insults state authorities, i.e. officials during or in connection with the execution of their lawful orders, shall be punished with a fine of 700 to 4,000 euros or a prison sentence of up to 30 days."

The police today asked the court to put Trifunovic in prison for 30 days.

Article 5 reads, "Whoever disrupts public order and peace by presenting texts, songs, reproductions, or highlighting symbols, texts, images and drawings in a public place will be fined from 300 to 2,000 euros."

The police are asking for a fine of 1,000 euros for Trifunovic on this count.

Although Trifunovic's wife Isidora spoke about police brutality during his arrest at Bajakovo (border crossing), Trifunovic did not mention that in court today, but he may tomorrow.
