Djuric: Measures proposed by Vucic are lifeline for those whose rights are trampled by Kurti

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Marko Djuric has said that the measures proposed by President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic are not a threat to anyone but a lifeline for people whose rights have been trampled by the regime of Albin Kurti.

Regarding a statement by the minister of foreign affairs of the provisional Institutions in Pristina, Donika Gervala, that Serbia's measures are "a desperate attempt to sabotage Kosovo's independence" Djuric said that, unlike Gervala and Kurti, Serbia has always been committed to finding peaceful and diplomatic solutions to issues in Kosovo and Metohija, and all allegations of aggressive or hostile intentions are completely unfounded.

"The measures recently presented by President Vucic are aimed at protecting the legitimate rights and interests of Serbs living in Kosovo and Metohija, whose rights continue to be threatened by Kurti and his followers. The only threat to the security, property and future of all citizens om Kosovo and Metohija represent Kurti and his regime," Djuric said.

He stressed that Serbia remains open to dialogue and negotiations in good faith, but, "we cannot accept unilateral moves that undermine the lives and security of Serbs and Serbia."

"Instead of encouraging an atmosphere of hostility, we call on the representatives of Kurti's regime to stop lying and deceiving the international public and implement the commitments they have undertaken and return to the results of the dialogue," Djuric concluded.
