President Aleksandar Vucic today received Serge Brammertz, chief prosecutor of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT).

Vucic said afterwards that he had a fair and open conversation with prosecutor Brammertz about Serbia's cooperation with the the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, the results of the National Strategy for Punishing War Crimes, shedding light on the fate of missing persons, as well as about judicial cooperation in the region regarding these issues.

"Serbia and the Mechanism do not have any open issues, cooperation is continuous. At the same time, there is a need for better coordination when it comes to regional cooperation on issues of missing persons, indictment and prosecution of war crimes. I reiterated that our country is approaching the work with the Mechanism responsibly, as well as punishment for war crimes through local legislation because justice for all victims is an important part of the region's path to reconciliation and a better future for all our citizens," Vucic concluded.
