Courtroom chaos, father of one of Blazic's victims: "Raise your head, take a good look at me. I swore revenge"
Miroljub Milovanovic, the father of Aleksandar Milovanovic, one of the victims of last May's massacre perpetrated in the vicinity of Mladenovac, appeared visibly upset before the court panel in Belgrade today.
He at one point turned towards the glass panel behind which sits Uros Blazic - accused for murdering 9 and wounding 12 people - and started shouting!
"Raise your head and take a good look at me. Take a good look at me, you jackass!," he exclaimed.
When asked by the prosecutor if Aleksandar had any problems with Blazic, he said that he did not, but that they do now.
"I will wait for him my whole life! As a father I would like you to sentence him to life in prison, but I swore to myself that I would get my revenge. Release him now!," the man said.
He added that he was joining the criminal prosecution and that he is seeking compensation of 100,000 euros per each family member.
Uros and his father Radisa Blazic, the latter being accused of illegal acquisition and possession of a large amount of weapons, presented their defense during the trial yesterday. Telegraf journalist Jelena Ostojic was in the courtroom, as well as today, reporting about the trial.
Yesterday, Uros Blazic publicly presented his defense for the first time and confessed to the crime, but did not want to talk about the murders.
"I want to offer my condolences to the families. I cannot turn back the clock. For my defense, I do not want the prosecutor to ask me about the critical evening. I will only answer my lawyer's questions. It's shameful (for me) to go back to that evening, no one with their behavior deserved for the shootings to occur. I stand by the defense I presented in the prosecution, but it was added there that I wanted to take revenge and that I wanted to commit a terrorist act, but that is not true. I am guilty and I am ready to answer and accept any sentence, but I don't want an innocent man to be held responsible just because he is my father. He has nothing to do with the weapon," said Blazic.
He spoke about his father, Radisa Blazic, claiming that he did not provide him with the weapon that was used to commit the massacre and that was found during the search of the house.
Uros Blazic exercised his right not to answer questions.
Radisa Blazic fully denied that he was guilty, stating that he never saw the weapon that was found and that he does not know where his son acquired it.
"Uros behaved like a normal person, he didn't behave like a madman, for me to intervene, for me to report him," said Radisa Blazic.
The judge cautioned him, noting that he was talking about his son all the time and asked him if he wanted to answer questions. Radisa Blazic said that he was going to answer his defense attorney's questions, as well as that he had never seen the Tokarev 33 pistol, let alone held it in his hands.
"That May 4, we went to Dubona to buy a pig and a sheep for the patron saint feast. I'm not present for the slaughter, so I wasn't there. Uros said he would come at seven in the morning. I was woken up by a call at midnight. They told me to come to the center of the village, that Uros had killed someone. I was in for a shock. I thought there was some argument, a squabble, I didn't expect a massacre, such an atrocity," he said.
Until his arrest, Radisa said, he was at home, accompanied by the police. When asked why his rifle was taken from him earlier, he said that Uros had problems with some craftsmen when he was injured.
"They told me to hand over all the weapons I had, and I was done with that. At the time my hunting rifle and small-caliber rifle were taken from me, that was all I had," he added.
The second-accused answered the questions from the lawyer, the judge, representatives of the victims and the families, and the prosecutor, but the judge warned him several times not to answer with a question and not to disturb the trial.
For security reasons, the Higher Court in Smederevo, which is in charge of this trial, is sitting in the Special Court in Ustanicka Street in Belgrade.
The trial is scheduled to continue today and tomorrow, and then resume in September.
Uros Blazic is accused of shooting and killing nine and wounding 12 people on May 4, 2023.
