The heatwave continues in Serbia, with temperatures in many areas above 40 degrees in the previous days, even up to 42. Yesterday brought short-lasting showers with thunder, but also hailstorms to many parts of Serbia.

Unfortunately, the precipitation was localized, so a very severe drought continues in many areas.

Despite some rain that fell yesterday, the weather didn't get any cooler.

Thursday is sunny and hot, and so will be Friday, with temperatures from 36 to 40°C, up to 38 degrees in Belgrade.

Clouds are expected in the afternoon and evening, in some places local showers with thunder, mainly in the hills and on mountains.

The weekend will see alternating sunny and cloudy intervals and more frequent local showers with thunder, especially on Sunday.

The daily highs on Saturday will range from 35 to 39 degrees, in Belgrade up to 37 degrees, and on the second day of the weekend it will be a little more pleasant, from 33 to 37 degrees, in Belgrade up to 35 degrees.

The beginning of next week will bring local showers with thunder but it will still be very hot, with temperatures from 30 to 35, in Belgrade up to 32°C.

Warm but slightly more pleasant nights are expected during that time, while in Belgrade, Vojvodina and larger urban areas the minimum temperatures will never drop below 20°C during the night.

Therefore, although temperatures will go down, no significant cooling is expected, given that the highs will still be above 30°C, but the good news is that the heatwave will not be as extreme as this week.

According to current forecasts, after August 22, Serbia is expecting a new increase in temperatures, so they could again go above 35°C.

There is no sign of significantly cooler weather in sight, nor of more abundant precipitation over a larger area until the end of the month.

Although somewhat more frequent precipitation is expected in the coming period, it will not significantly contribute to alleviating the drought, and many parts of the country will have some, or remain without any rainfall at all in the days ahead.
