Albin Kurti's latest statement that the bridge on the Ibar must be opened and that there is no discussion on that topic, clearly shows that the only thing Kurti wants is war and provoking a conflict with far-reaching consequences, said the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic.

"I hope that it is now clear to everyone, especially in the international community, who Albin Kurti is - a Balkan arsonist who longs for conflict and causing chaos in the region," said Petkovic.

He added that Kurti was never even interested in dialogue, especially not in setting up the Community of Serb Municipalities (ZSO), because his policy is a purely ethnically clean so-called Kosovo, cleansed of Serbs.

"During the last two years, the only thing Kurti has done and is still doing today are violent and unilateral moves aimed at expelling and persecuting the Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija.

Unilateral opening of the bridge is an extremely dangerous move from the security point of view, a move Kurti wants to lead to conflict. Even on a day when US officials, as well as days ago other members of the Quint, as well as the EU and KFOR, are clearly warning that the bridge issue can only be resolved in dialogue in Brussels and in no other way, Kurti most terribly tramples on dialogue and the idea of normalization.

Whether he is in it alone or actually has tacit support will be best shown on the example of the bridge. Kurti can make whatever decisions he wants, but as long as KFOR is physically present on the bridge and does not allow it to be opened, the bridge will not even be opened. That's why we can only trust KFOR to stick to its public statements and not allow Kurti's insane and dangerous war plans to be implemented," said Petkovic.
