Interior Minister Ivica Dacic spoke today with Ambassador of Hungary to Serbia Jozsef Magyar about cooperation between the two countries in the field of internal affairs, primarily about cooperation in the fight against irregular migration.

Minister Dacic pointed out that bilateral relations between Serbia and Hungary are at the highest level, which is also proven by the good cooperation achieved in the field of internal affairs, the ministry announced.

The interlocutors assessed that the cooperation between the two police forces is excellent, especially in the area of combating irregular migration, as shown by the results achieved within the trilateral initiative of Serbia, Hungary and Austria, which greatly reduced the migratory pressure through Serbia toward the European Union countries.

Dacic also said that police cooperation is intensive in combating people smuggling, especially migrants, as well as human trafficking, drug smuggling, but also regarding economic crime and financial investigations.

Both sides expressed their readiness to continue the implementation of activities in order to fulfill long-term measures to reduce congestion at the Horgos and Kelebija border crossings.
