Firefighters are still on the ground, but there are no more critical points, except for the direction towards Drobnici which can only be extinguished from the air because of inaccessible terrain

A sleepless and difficult night for firefighters from Budva and several other municipalities. Until the morning they were putting out a wildfire in Rezevici, which spread last night with the wind and at one point approached people's homes.

However, they were able to suppress it and there is currently no danger to populated areas, Dragan Bozovic, head of the Budva Protection and Rescue Service, told TV Vijesti.

According to him, firefighters are still on the ground, but there are no more critical points, except for the direction towards Drobnici which can only be extinguished from the air because of inaccessible terrain.

Bozovic said that colleagues from Bar, Ulcinj, Tivat, Podgorica and Cetinje helped them put out the fire.

Videos of the fire raging in Rezevici near Petrovac na Moru was published on the Instagram page Podgoricki Vremeplov.

As can be seen in the videos published last night, the fire at one point approached the houses in the village across the highway.

"A big fire. It's spreading. There'll be no sleep tonight," a resident of Rezevici told Primorski Portal last night.

The large-scale wildfire on Monday morning reduced visibility in this part of the Montenegrin coast. Locals complained that it was difficult to breathe because of the thick smoke.

"Ash is getting inside the houses and it is getting harder to breathe. Neighbors had to take their children away," one local told Primorski Portal.

The Directorate for Protection and Rescue recently again called on citizens to respect recommendations of competent services and authorities regarding the ban on starting fires in the open and act responsibly towards nature.
