Selakovic and prime minister of Azerbaijan discuss strengthening cooperation between the two countries

Minister of Culture and Co-Chairman of the Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Azerbaijan Nikola Selakovic has met with Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov in Baku.

The 8th Session of the Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation is being held there.

It was pointed out during the meeting that the bilateral relations and strategic partnership between the two countries are at an extremely high level, based on mutual trust and respect, as well as the good personal relations between the two presidents, Aleksandar Vucic and Ilham Aliyev, which is an additional advantage for the further development of cooperation, the Ministry of Culture announced today.

The prime minister of Azerbaijan confirmed that Azerbaijan firmly supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia and does not recognize unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo and Metohija.

Asadov and Selakovic considered the possibilities of strengthening cooperation in the field of transport, energy, trade and economic cooperation, the pharmaceutical industry and joint investments and concluded that the session of the Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation is a good platform for concrete results and the launch of new initiatives aimed at stimulating the economies of the two countries.

At the meeting, it was stressed that the geographical position of the two countries - Serbia in the Balkans and Azerbaijan in the Caucasus - is an important potential for cooperation and a good basis for the development of transport, as well as that the establishment of direct flights will play a significant role.

The meeting was also attended by Minister of Labor, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs Nemanja Starovic, the statement said.
