Car belonging to mother of Belgrade mass school shooter confiscated
The mother of a minor who in May 2023 shot and killed 9 students and a guard at the Belgrade Vladislav Ribnikar elementary school, Miljana Kecmanovic, has had her car confiscated to settle a debt.
Five civil and one criminal proceedings are currently in progress against the Kecmanovic family.
Court bailiffs today seized Miljana Kecmanovic's car. She is the mother of a minor who committed the massacre at the Vladislav Ribnikar elementary on May 3, 2023.
Her car was confiscated in order to settle the costs of the procedure for determining the temporary measure of prohibition against the disposal of assets of almost 1.4 million dinars, the representative of the Kecmanovic family, Marina Ivelja, told Tanjug.
The temporary measure prohibiting the disposal of the property implies that the Kecmanovics cannot sell movable and immovable property that is covered by that decision, nor that which is mortgaged.
Lawyer Ognjen Bozovic told Tanjug that the Higher Court in Belgrade determined the costs of the interim measure procedure and issued a decision, and since Miljana Kecmanovic did not pay those costs, the court bailiffs seized her car.
The civil litigation proceedings are taking place based on the complaint filed by 27 family members of the victims. Prior to that, measures were determined to secure future monetary claims, so the Kecmanovics are unable to either sell or mortgage property, among which was the car.
With that decision, the woman was under obligation to pay costs of almost 1.4 million dinars, and considering that she did not settle those costs, her car was seized.
One criminal case is also under way against the shooter's parents, which is closed to the public to protect the minor victims.
