A Serbian man, G.D.,f died on Wednesday afternoon in a plane crash in Palm Beach County, Florida.
He was on a plane with another person when it crashed into a muddy lake at the end of the runway.
The accident happened shortly after 2 pm, as the small plane, a Piper PA28, was taking off from the Palm Beach County General Aviation Airport.
By the time emergency services arrived, the plane was already under water.
The Serbian and another man were pulled from the murky water around 3:30 pm, a sheriff's spokesperson confirmed.
When the plane plunged into the muddy lake, one of the wings or part of the plane's tail got torn off, Palm Beach County firefighters told reporters at the scene. First responders discovered that the plane was split into at least two parts.
The helicopter crew spotted the wreckage underwater, and two people were found in the submerged plane, according to the same sources.
The plane's passengers were pulled ashore by rescue helicopter, treated immediately and then taken to a trauma center, the fire department said in an email.
They were pronounced dead there.
An investigation is ongoing to find out why the plane crashed.
