The delegation of the Serbia's ruling Progressive Party (SNS), led by members of its Presidency Petar Petkovic and Nemanja Starovic, along with 20 other party members, have arrived on an official visit to the People's Republic of China, where they will have several meetings with high-ranking representatives of the Communist Party of China, party officials and ministers.

The Serbian delegation was welcomed in Beijing by the director of the Eurasian Affairs Bureau with the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, Wang Min, who stressed that she is convinced that the visit will be substantive and give additional momentum to the deepening of relations between the two countries.

Petkovic thanked the Chinese friends for the reception and a warm welcome, pointing out that another in a series of party visits is being implemented as the initiative launched in 2019 by the two presidents - Aleksandar Vucic and Xi Jinping.

"This visit comes after a very successful and significant visit of President Xi to Serbia. It is important that we improve our inter-party cooperation and adopt examples of good practice to our mutual satisfaction," said Petkovic.

On the first day of the visit, the delegation visited the Chinese State Archive of Publications and Culture, where they had the opportunity to learn about the rich cultural, literary, and artistic heritage of the oldest civilization in the world.

"This archive was opened at the initiative of President Xi Jinping, as a place where an archive gallery, library, museum, art meet. It represents a treasure of Chinese culture and covers 380,000 square meters, and there are plans to open more smaller archive facilities throughout China," said the director of the National Archives of Publication and Culture, Liu Chengyong.

He proposed establishing cooperation between national cultural institutions of the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Serbia, and at the meeting it was agreed that soon an official delegation of representatives of Serbian cultural institutions would visit Beijing.

Petkovic said he was satisfied that the delegation had the opportunity to learn how the People's Republic of China cherishes and respects its traditions and culture.

"With the arrival of Aleksandar Vucic at the helm of Serbia, our country began to invest significant resources in nurturing our culture and tradition, with a special emphasis on the culture of memory. I would especially like to highlight our cultural heritage in Kosovo and Metohija, which is under daily attacks by the regime in Pristina, and the attempts to falsify and rewrite historical facts and hijack our cultural and religious heritage," underlined Petkovic.
