Novak Djokovic qualifies for Wimbledon semifinals without having to play his quarterfinals match!
Serbian tennis ace Novak Djokovic advanced to the semifinals of Wimbledon without having to play his quarterfinals match against Alex De Minaur, after the Australian withdrew from the tournament due to an injury he suffered in the previous round.
At the press conference after that match, De Minaur did not wish to comment on the injury, saying he would find a way to play against Novak Djokovic. However, that turned out not to be possible.
De Minaur called an emergency new conference ahead of the the match against Novak Djokovic, that was planned for today, where he disclosed the extent of his injury, as well as the fact that he will not be able to play.
This means Novak is now benefiting from the circumstances, while the Serbian was on the other end of a similar situation during the French Open, when he had to withdraw from the quarterfinals also due to injury.
Now Novak's semifinals opponent will be the winner of Taylor Fritz vs. Lorenzo Musetti.
