Doctor, 4 guards arrested in case of elderly inmate's murder: He was raped with broom and beaten to death

Four guards and a doctor working in Padinska Skela on the outskirts of Belgrade have been arrested in connection with the death of Stanimir Brajkovic (74) in that prison, that happened on February 4.4

Nenad Stefanovic, Chief Public Prosecutor at the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, has confirmed this for Telegraf.

They were arrested on the order of the Special Department for Suppression of Corruption of the Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, in cooperation with the Administration for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions of the Ministry of Justice, on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of performing unconscientious service, specified Stefanovic.

He added that the suspects are detained for up to 48 hours, during which time they will be questioned by the public prosecutor.

The Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade is already conducting an investigation against another three suspects, believed to be the direct perpetrators, who shared a prison cell with S.B.

They are suspected of beating and abusing the victim on several occasions, as a result of which he eventually died.

They are charged with aggravated murder.
