Shooting range owner admits to giving false testimony in Belgrade school massacre case

After he voluntarily retracted his false testimony during a hearing before the Higher Court in Belgrade on June 21, the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office (VJT) in Belgrade concluded an agreement regarding the recognition of the criminal offense with Ratko Ivanovic.

He is the president and the responsible person of the sports club Partizan Practical Shooting, and has admitted that he gave false testimony during the questioning at the prosecution on July 14, 2023.

The investigation in question concerns Vladimir Kecmanovic, who is accused of committing a serious crime against general security.

Kecmanovic is the father of a student who last year shot and killed 10 people in the Belgrade elementary school Vladislav Ribnikar. The father is suspected of taking his son to the range, despite him being a minor.

Ivanovic admitted that he committed the crime of giving false testimony, and based on the plea bargain agreement he will be sentenced to five months of house arrest.

Also, according to the agreement, the defendant will pay court costs.

Public prosecutors, the accused and his defense attorneys have waived the right to appeal against the court decision that will be made based on this agreement.

The agreement will be submitted to the Higher Court in Belgrade for confirmation.

According to the assessment of the VJT in Belgrade, Ivanovic's statement made on June 21 was truthful and in line with the rest of the evidence.
