Ana Brnabic: Germany has two large lithium projects and has overtaken us
President of the Assembly of Serbia Ana Brnabic has pointed out that Germany's preparations for lithium mining are in full swing, in order to make it sustainable and more independent.
"The following facts are intended for those who see marijuana on the Morovic property belonging to the military, but do not see that Germany is in full swing preparing for lithium mining in order to be as self-sustaining, and energy and industry-wise as independent as possible.
Germany has two large lithium projects - Vulcan and Zinnwald. Vulcan (located in the Upper Rhine Valley) plans to start commercial lithium production in the third quarter of 2026. Zinnwald (located in Saxony, on the German-Czech border) is still in the exploration phase and is expected to complete a feasibility study by the end of this year," Brnabic posted on X.
She also pointed out that "while we are dealing with conspiracy theories here, Germany is catching up and overtaking us."
"While here we are dealing with conspiracy theories, repeating gossip, listening to every know-it all who is ready to share unverified and unsubstantiated half-information, while we are saying, 'when Germany does it, we will too" - Germany has caught up and overtaken us, although we started our research exactly 20 years ago! And let me immediately reply those who say that I am lobbying for lithium or for Rio Tinto. No, gentlemen, I lobby for Serbia," Brnabic's post concluded.
