The EU's special envoy for dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Miroslav Lajcak, announced that he discussed the current situation and upcoming challenges in the EU-facilitated dialogue at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg with EU member states.

Lajcak posted on X that unity is key to strengthening EU's political position in the Western Balkans.

"Good to be back at CoE in Strasbourg after almost 2 years. Appreciated the opportunity to brief EU member states on the state of play and the challenges ahead in the EU-facilitated Dialogue. EU unity is key in order to strengthen our political position in the Western Balkans," wrote Lajcak.

He added that he had the honor to participate in the 1,500 meeting of CoE ministers' deputies and to inform them about the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.

"Close cooperation of our two organizations is important to support and promote shared values, including protection of national minorities and rule of law," Lajcak said.

In a separate post on X, Lajcak wrote that he also spoke with Secretary General of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe Mathieu Mori about how to strengthen local administration in the north of Kosovo.
