One person was seriously injured, and another lightly this morning at 6:02 am on the section of the Suva Morava-Priboj Vranjski railway line, at a level crossing secured by road signals.

A freight train ran into a van that was crossing the railway line.

The driver of the van was seriously injured, while a female passenger received light injuries and both were taken to the hospital in Vranje.

Rail traffic was suspended this morning.

The company Srbija Kargo announced that the train made up of 19 cars was traveling on the route Subotica-Presevo and that it collided with a passenger van that did not stop in time at the crossing.

Members of the MUP, as well as the Joint Railway Commission for investigation of extraordinary events, which will determine all the details of the accident, went to the scene.

Railway companies Srbija Kargo and Railways of Serbia Infrastructure once again appeal to all road users to respect regulations and traffic signals, because this is the only way to prevent such accidents and save lives.
