Local elections for Belgrade Assembly, and in 14 other cities and 74 municipalities to be held on Sunday

On Sunday, May 2, local elections will be held in Serbia for councilors in the Belgrade City Assembly and in 14 other cities and 74 municipalities.

14 electoral lists will compete for seats in the Belgrade City Assembly, the same number as in Novi Sad, while there are 11 lists in Nis. In addition to these three cities, elections will be held in 12 more: Subotica, Zrenjanin, Kikinda, Vrsac, Pancevo, Sombor, Sremska Mitrovica, Valjevo, Pozarevac, Jagodina, Uzice, and Cacak.
The City Electoral Commission of Belgrade announced 14 election lists for the Belgrade City Assembly, which has 110 councilors.
In Belgrade, elections will also be held in 17 city municipalities.
These are Barajevo, Vozdovac, Vracar, Grocka, Zvezdara, Zemun, Lazarevac, Mladenovac, Sopot, Obrenovac, Palilula, New Belgrade, Rakovica, Savski Venc, Stari Grad, Cukarica, Surcin.
In Novi Sad, 14 lists have been confirmed, and candidates will compete for 78 seats in the city assembly.
In Nis, the City Assembly has 61 councilors, while 11 lists will be on the ballot paper on Sunday.
On June 2, residents of Nis will also vote for councilors in five municipalities - Crveni Krst, Medijana, Palilula, Pantelej, and in Niska Banja, while councilors will also be elected for the Pozarevac city municipality of Kostolac.
Local elections will be in 51 more municipalities in Serbia: Ada, Aleksinac, Alibunar, Apatin, Arilje, Bac, Backa Palanka, Backa Topola, Backi Petrovac, Becej, Bela Crkva, Beocin, Boljevac, Bosilegrad, Bujanovac, Cajetina, Coka, Gornji Milanovac, Indjija, Irig, Ivanjica, Kanjiza, Kovacica, Kovin, Mali Idjos, Nova Crnja, Nova Varos, Novi Becej, Novi Knezevac, Odzaci, Opovo, Pecinci, Plandiste, Raska, Ruma, Senta, Sid, Sjenica, Srbobran, Sremski Karlovci, Stara Pazova, Surdulica, Svilajnac, Svrljig, Temerin, Titel, Tutin, Vrbas, Vrnjacka Banja, Zabalj, and Zitiste.
The Electoral Commission should publish the results within 96 hours after the polling stations close. The commission's report will detail the turnout, the number of those who cast their ballots, the number of votes received by each list, and the number of seats won.
Only electoral tickets that receive at least 3 percent of the votes out of the number of voters who cast their ballots can participate in the distribution of council seats, while this threshold does not apply to ethnic minority lists.
Elections will not be organized in 64 cities and municipalities where they were already held last December.
