Serbian long jump star Ivana Spanovic won't participate in European Athletics Championships!

The best Serbian track and field athlete, Ivana Spanovic, has withdrawn from the European Athletics Championships!

This was confirmed by Ivana herself on the podcast of the Olympic Committee of Serbia.

"I gave up on the winter season, I gave up on the European Championships in Rome, because I don't want any risk at all of jumping in Paris with any pain. I haven't had the desire to just collect medals for a long time and I'm not a collector," said Ivana and added:

"I love to compete, extremely, and it's not always just to show up and live up to expectations. Our idea is to show up to the competition when I'm ready, when there's no risk of injury and absolutely Paris is the only thing I've been talking about since Tokyo. As much as I want to participate at the European Championships, it's a small sacrifice."

The European Athletics Championships will be held from June 7 to 12 in Rome.
