Cyprus National Guard complete training in Serbia for combat use of self-propelled howitzers
Based on the plan of bilateral military cooperation with Cyprus, members of the National Guard of that country were in Serbia for training for combat use of self-propelled 155 millimeter B-52 M15 Nora howitzers, the Ministry of Defense has announced.
The training of Cypriot soldiers was carried out by instructors from the Mixed Artillery Brigade, whose armament includes this modern artillery system.
During the two-week training, they transferred knowledge about the tactics of the use of the howitzer and trained them for direct handling and shooting in accordance with the set standards and norms for effective operation of this combat system.
The final training activities were carried out at the Pasuljanska Livade training ground and included assuming a firing position, reconnaissance, detection of targets and shooting elements, and preparatory and combat shooting from self-propelled howitzers, a statement said.
"The achieved excellent results in artillery firing confirm that the training of the Cypriot servicemen by the Mixed Artillery Brigade was of high quality and that the goal of the training was fully achieved," the statement of the Ministry of Defense concludes.
It was noted that the training at the shooting range was attended on Wednesday by Cypriot Ambassador Andreas Fotiu.
The training of members of the National Guard of Cyprus, which has Serbian self-propelled howitzers Nora in its service, is one of the numerous activities in the realm of bilateral military cooperation between Serbia and Cyprus aimed at strengthening mutual trust and building the capabilities of the armed forces, the press release points out.
