North Macedonia's president: I was not consulted about UN vote on Srebrenica resolution

President of North Macedonia Gordana Siljanovska Davkova has stated that she was not consulted about the vote regarding a resolution on Srebrenica held at the UN General Assembly.

She stated that North Macedonia's ambassador to the UN, Ljubomir Frckovski, should have consulted with her about the vote regarding that resolution, rather than only with Minister of Foreign Affairs Bujar Osmani.

"In international politics, there is a shared competence between the minister of foreign affairs and the president of the state. When voting in the UN, the UN ambassador should have consulted with me, not just the minister of foreign affairs. That is a logical method in international relations," stresssed Siljanovska Davkova, the North Macedonian portal Plus Info reported.

Representatives of 84 countries, including North Macedonia, voted in favor of adopting the resolution, while 19 countries were against and 68 abstained. Representatives of 22 others were not present for the vote.

According to the website's report, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said he was disappointed with the way North Macedonia voted, noting that he had invested a lot in improving relations with that country.
