Historian: Hungary is the only EU country that voted against Srebrenica resolution, showing its sovereignty

During Thursday's vote on a draft resolution on Srebrenica at the UN General Assembly, Hungary was the only European Union country that voted against, thus once again showing that it has made the most progress in the field of sovereign politics, even in relation to the EU, said historian Sasa Adamovic.

"Because of this, Hungary has become a kind of 'negative' example compared to all the other countries in the bloc, because the elite in Brussels often perceives it as a country that must be punished in some way for its policies," he told Tanjug.

He pointed out that for this reason the word "Orbanization" is used as a pejorative term in the EU.

"I have always said that it would be good if 'Orbanization' actually extended to the entire European Union, because then we would have that bloc as a serious geopolitical identity capable of articulating its own interests beyond the interests of some other powers, above all I mean the US," said the historian.

He stressed that this is why the European Union at the moment "is not showing a serious enough approach to become attractive, and to attract other countries."

The General Assembly of the United Nations adopted the resolution on Srebrenica with 84 votes in favor, 19 against and 68 abstained, while representative of 22 countries were not present.
