The doctors at the University Clinical Center (UKC) in Nis are still fighting to save the life of a girl (12) who was seriously injured when she fell from a swing ride in Kursumlija, our portal has learned from that healthcare facility.

"Doctors are fighting for her life, as in previous days, but her condition has not changed. She is no longer under sedation, but is still on mechanical ventilation, she is not breathing on her own", the UKC said.

UKC Director Zoran Perisic, said earlier that the girl has brain injuries that do not require surgical treatment for now.

13 children were injured when part of a swing ride installed on a plateau near the bus station in Kursumlija collapsed on May 8. After the accident, five persons were treated at the Healthcare Center in Kursumlija, and seven at the Prokupac general hospital. The girl, who was treated at the Anesthesia and Intensive Care Clinic in Nis, suffered the most serious injuries.

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of committing a serious crime against public safety. The owner of the swing ride, and the man who is leasing the land where it was installed are behind bars.
