Dejan Stevic from the Traffic Police Directorate said that over te weekend seven people died in Serbia in traffic accidents.

"There were over 200 accidents and over 100 injuries. What is particularly worrying is that of the seven victims, as many as five were young drivers - younger than 30, even two with a probationary driver's license," Stevic told Tanjug.

The Interior Ministry, MUP, is appealing on all participants to respect traffic regulations and urges them to be especially careful.

"Given that two traffic accidents with fatal consequences involved drivers with a probationary driver's license, we especially appeal to young and inexperienced drivers," the MUP points out.

The youngest person who died was an 18-year-old driver from Valjevo.
