Vucic: "We will have to import labor from all parts of the world"
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic said today in Montenegro that the agreement on (regional) labor migration has an extremely positive effect on Serbia, adding that 3,300 people took advantage of this opportunity and got a job in our country.
"We have a shortage of labor force, although we still formally have an 8.9 or 9 percent unemployment rate, but we will have to import labor from all parts of the world as much as possible in the coming period, if we want to preserve our economic perspective and growth rate and progress faster," Vucic said, answering questions from journalists in the town of Kotor.
He said that Serbia's public debt in relation to GDP is 47.8 percent, in contrast to the period when he came to power, when public debt amounted to 75 percent of GDP, adding that Eurostat measures public debt in Serbia as the lowest in the region and twice as low as in the EU.
"I am satisfied because we do not have a problem with borrowing. There are people who fabricate things and talk nonsense every day, but I guess they give themselves wings when they lie about Serbia. People know that we take care of public finances seriously and in a good, careful, serious and responsible way," said the president.
Vucic today attended a summit of Western Balkans and European Union leaders, held under the slogan, "One region, common vision."
