"Orban and I will visit Fico": Vucic reacts to attempted assassination of Slovakia's prime minister
President of the Republic Aleksandar Vucic on Wednesday afternoon gave a speech at the Russian House in Belgrade on the topic, "Revision of historical facts and resistance of freedom-loving peoples."
At the very beginning of his address, the president reacted to the news of the attempted assassination of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.
Vucic said that he hopes for Fico's speedy recovery, and confirmed that together with Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban, he will visit Robert in the coming days.
Addressing Serbian Patriarch Porfirije, who was also present at the Russian House, Vucic said: "I would like to ask, Your Holiness, that you together with all the bishops of our Church, if I may do so during the SPC Assembly, that we all pray together for the health and recovery of our brother and friend Robert Fico and for God to give him a long life."
"With his persistence, diligence, and enormous energy, Fico succeeded, and he was and remains to this day a steadfast friend of Serbia. And I believe that it will remain so forever, just as he and Slovakia are in our hearts, because they are among the few nations who have always been on Serbia's side and we will never forget that. I hope that I will have the opportunity to talk to him soon, as I talked to him a few days ago. And I believe that we will have better news in the days ahead."
