Defense ministers of Serbia and United Arab Emirates meet in Belgrade

Serbian Minister of Defense Bratislav Gasic met today with Minister of State for Defense of the United Arab Emirates Mohammed bin Mubarak Fadel Al Mazrouei in the Old General Staff building in Belgrade.

After the sounding of national anthems and a ceremonial welcome organized by the Serbian Army Guard unit, a meeting between the delegations followed.

During the meeting, opinions were exchanged regarding the current geopolitical and security situation in the world, cooperation in the field of defense industry, as well as current military and military-economic cooperation projects and the possibilities of their further improvement.

Minister Gasic pointed out that the United Arab Emirates is one of the most important countries in the Middle East for Serbia and confirmed our determination to preserve the traditionally good relations between the two countries, based on mutual friendship.

Minister Gasic stated that the personal and extremely friendly relations between President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Serbian Army Aleksandar Vucic, and President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, made the most significant contribution to the strengthening and development of the overall relations between the two countries, including cooperation in the field of defense.

According to him, today's talks with Minister Al Mazrouei, as a representative of a friendly and close to us country, are very important for Serbia, that is facing pressure and challenges, which, instead of supporting reconciliation, raise tensions and destabilize the region.

Gasic added that today's cordial and open conversation with Minister Al Mazrouei represents support to our efforts to persist in the policy of building lasting peace, stability and progress in the Balkans based on sincere dialogue and cooperation.

Minister Gasic said that we will try to further strengthen the partnership with the United Arab Emirates in many fields and make it as close and meaningful as possible by looking at new opportunities for development of joint projects and activities in the field of military-economic and military-technical cooperation, as well as in the field of military education and medicine.

Minister Al Mazrouei congratulated Gasic on his recent appointment as Serbia's defense minister and wished him much success in his future work. During today's meeting, the UAE official pointed out the importance of cooperation in the field of defense and the overall cooperation between our two countries.
