Seismologist Slavica Radovanovic has told Telegraf.rs that seismological activities in the territory of Serbia are slightly increasing. She spoke after a 4.3 magnitude hit Kladovo, eastern Serbia, early this morning.

The expert added that these processes are slow, but that an increase in such activities can be observed, both in eastern parts, and throughout the rest of the territory of Serbia.

"We'll see whether there will be more shocks today. We will monitor the situation, then we will comment. But as I said earlier, the seismic activity is increasing," Radovanovic told Telegraf.rs.

As our interlocutor explains, the capacities of the fault line systems are greater and they are located on the Romanian side (of the border/Danube), where they previously reached magnitudes of up to 5.5 or 5.6.

An M4.3 earthquake hit Kladovo this morning.

The epicenter was near Tekija, at a depth of 11 kilometers.

The earthquake was also felt in Zajecar, Negotin, Donji Milanovac, Bor and other towns in eastern Serbia. Some citizens felt it even as far south as Nis.

"It was shaking on the 5th floor," people in that town reported.

According those in Kladovo, walls, windows, wardrobes and beds shook significantly at the moment of the earthquake.

"I felt the earthquake, the furniture in the house shook," "It was really felt well," "I was in bed when I felt the shaking," "I was procrastinating getting out of bed for work, this pushed me right out," people commented, sharing their experiences.
