Defense Minister Milos Vucevic congratulated members of the Army and citizens on this Serbian Army Day, and laid a wreath at the monument to the Unknown Hero on Mt. Avala.

"On the occasion of the Day of the Serbian Army, as an envoy of President of the Republic and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Army Aleksandar Vucic, I laid a wreath today at the Monument to the Unknown Hero on Avala," Vucevic wrote on his official Instagram profile.

"I congratulate all members of the Serbian Army on April 23 - Serbian Army Day. This is the day we celebrate the restoration of the national statehood. The day when the Second Serbian Uprising started in Takovo.

That day reminds us that in our people there is strength and will, courage and wisdom, faith and sacrifice, to win freedom in battle and to preserve it by building peace.

Without an organized, equipped, trained and prepared army, none of these sacred tasks could be accomplished. Long live the Serbian Army! Long live Serbia," the caption to a video the minister posted reads.
