Vucic: I will have many meetings in New York, from now on I'll refer to some countries as "partners"
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has announced that there he will have many meetings and briefings with friendly countries in New York on April 23 and 24, and that from now on, he will be referring to some as "partner" rather than friendly countries.
Asked what kind of diplomatic activity is planned for New York and which countries are the most important for Serbia so that we can count on their vote "against" or to abstain when the resolution on Srebrenica is put up for a vote, Vucic stated that he will on April 23 and 24 have many meetings and briefings.
"Don't get upset, I can't call 'friendly' those countries who would like to assure us that they are. From today I call them partners, partner countries. It's a nice euphemism that means nothing. So, we will have partners and friends in the world, and partners and friends in the region," said Vucic.
When asked to comment on the situation in the Middle East and whether the escalation will continue, Vucic said that he expects things to calm down, but not in the long term.
Speaking about the letters he sent to European leaders regarding Pristina's attempt to become a member of the Council of Europe (CoE), he stated that he had not yet received replies, which, he said, was logical, because the letters had just been sent.
"As for the replies, I didn't get any, we just sent the letters, it's not realistic. I also talked to ambassadors, I sent messages to big centers, to Beijing, to Moscow, and in every other way all over the world. I will talk to many presidents from different continents, why would reveal to them (Pristina), where, what and how," said Vucic.
