All schools in one Serbian municipality ban students from using mobile phones
Students and parents will be fully informed about this rule
New rules for students should soon come into force in all schools in Priboj, in southwestern Serbia, as they all agreed to adopt regulations on the use of mobile phones and other electronic devices, based on the guidelines issued by the Institute for Evaluation of the Quality of Education.
"It is forbidden to use mobile phones in schools, they must be placed in a bag or in a designated place upon arrival. Digital devices include not only mobile phones but also smart watches, tablets, laptops and headphones. In some schools it has been decided that they can be used during the main recess, but not in ours, and not even during extracurricular activities such as trips," said Nikola Tosic, the headmaster at the Nikola Tesla elementary school in Banja.
Students and parents will be fully informed about this rule, parents will be given a declaration form to fill out, stating they are familiar with it and that they agree with its application.
This will be done in the entire municipality, and there will be various levels of penalties for those breaking the new rules.
